Excel & Google Sheets workflows

Spreadsheets that are easier to update and hand over.

I help organize business spreadsheets so their inputs, field rules and update steps are easier to follow. Depending on the agreed task, delivery can include formatting, validation, formulas, a reusable template and handover notes.

Discuss your project

Start with your task

What you can hand over.

Examples of work we can scope together. The source material and intended result determine the approach.

A clearer working workbook

Organize Excel or Google Sheets tables, validation rules, formulas and pivots around the question the file needs to answer.

At handover A maintainable workbook with defined fields and representative checks.

Repeatable reporting

Prepare update templates and reporting views with manual steps clearly identified.

At handover A reporting layout, input checklist and instructions. Scripts and connected systems require a separate scope.

A useful fit

What the work includes.

For teams managing recurring updates, reporting tables, or files that need a more consistent structure and review process.

  • Clean tables, appropriate formulas or pivots, and useful reporting layouts.
  • Validation rules and repeatable formatting suited to the task.
  • Field definitions and instructions explaining updates and manual steps.

Scope boundaries

The scope identifies which steps are formula-based and which remain manual. Scripts and external integrations require separate confirmation. PDF or image conversion needs an extraction-quality review.

Inspect the workflow

Self-initiated demonstrations with synthetic data, created to make the process and deliverables inspectable.

Inspect repeatable cleanup rules, per-row changes and a reviewed CSV. Spreadsheet formulas and connected-sheet automation are outside this demonstration.

A clear starting point

What to include in your brief.

  • A sample workbook and the question it needs to answer.
  • Source formats, update frequency, and current manual steps.
  • Your preferred spreadsheet tool and who will maintain the file.

Start with a description. Please don’t send passwords, tokens, private contact lists, or full client datasets through the enquiry form.

From brief to handover

How we can approach it.

  1. Understand the current file and recurring inputs.
  2. Agree a structure and the checks needed to maintain it.
  3. Prepare appropriate tables, calculations, and templates.
  4. Test a representative sample and document the update process.

Useful to know

Before you send the brief.

Can you improve an existing spreadsheet?

Share the goal and describe what is difficult to update or check. A small non-sensitive sample is enough to discuss the structure.

Will every step be automated?

Not necessarily. The scope distinguishes formulas and templates from manual reviews. Scripts and connected systems are considered separately.

Can information be extracted from PDFs or images?

Extraction depends on source quality and layout. The converted result needs review; a visual source does not prove every extracted value is correct.

Your next step

Tell me what a useful result looks like.

Share the task, your current tools, and any constraints. I’ll review the brief and let you know how I can help.
